Gmail is getting smarter day by day with more Gemini AI Features to help you manage your emails effortlessly.
On the web, Google is starting to introduce a new Gemini AI side panel that can do cool stuff like summarize email conversations and even help you compose new emails.
According to a blog post from Google, this tool will provide “proactive prompts” and allow you to ask questions in a natural way. It’s designed to take advantage of Google’s advanced models, including Gemini AI 1.5 Pro. In the Gmail mobile apps, you’ll also soon be able to use Gemini to summarize email threads.
These enhancements sound promising, but here’s the catch—they’re only accessible to paying Gemini AI users. You’ll need to be using Google Workspace with a Gemini AI Business or Enterprise add-on, or have a Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or be a subscriber to Google One AI Premium. Also, it’s wise not to rely entirely on these tools for important work emails; remember, AI can sometimes make mistakes, so it’s a good idea to double-check any crucial emails Gemini assists with before hitting send.
Google is also integrating Gemini AI into side panels across Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, as promised during last month’s I/O conference. Future updates for Gmail will include features like “Contextual Smart Reply.”
